EuroHealthNet welcomes focus on longer lives but regrets growing inequalities in new European health report

The European Health Report 2012: Charting the way to wellbeing, shows that application of knowledge about how to improve health across all public policies brings demonstrable benefits: life expectancy is up by an average of five years since 1980 and is projected to increase despite major risks and threats. But data from individual countries show large inequalities in life expectancy and years gained, especially when analysed by sex and regions.

Report on the workshop Demographic Change

Within the framework of the Thematic Programme Capitalisation initiative of the Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC a targeted thematic workshop on Demographic Change was organised on the 7th of November in Brussels. INNOVAGE was presented on this workshop under the Demographic change thematic area, jointly with other European projects related to this topic such as CASA and DAA projects which are close related with INNOVAge. FRENCH INNOVAGE EVENT: DETECTION AND ALERT OF A PERSON FALL AT HOME: WHAT OPPORTUNITITES FOR NEW OFFERS?

The event brought together more than 40 participants (technological providers, researchers, telecare professionals, private health insurance). The workshop drew the state of the art of the situation regarding fall detection at home and the service/technology offer available on the market at the moment. Then, a discussion among the participants was initiated on the potential services/solution to develop to prevent fall and/or improve fall detection.
